Se você acompanha os telejornais sabe que está parecendo uma disputa sobre quem vai ajudar mais o Haiti. E quem mais aparece são os Estados Unidos.

Os próprios haitianos consideram a presença dos americanos uma invasão ao seu território. Mas o presidente haitiano, René Préval, nega que isso esteja acontecendo. Ele diz que foi a pedido dele que os americanos estão lá.
Acontece que onde as tropas americanas estão aí há confusão. Os americanos dizem que não querem tomar conta do Haiti, mas parece ser o contrário. Já fizeram voltar vários aviões com ajuda humanitária por estarem controlando o aeroporto de Porto Príncipe.
Diz o presidente haitiano que o Haiti não está sob tutela de ninguém. A ONU parece ser a melhor tutela que o país possa ter, mas não a dos EUA.
Me parece que os americanos estão usando uma desgraça natural para ocupar um país que está em caos total. Não deveria ser assim.
É por isso que vários povos detestam a presença de americanos, seja civil ou militar. Parecem não respeitar a vontade do outro. Se acham no direito de fazer a lei em qualquer lugar desrespeitando a ONU e outros órgãos internacionais.
Enquanto os americanos tiverem esse tipo de atitude, pode ter certeza que vai continuar o terrorismo contra eles. São os próprios americanos que fazem nascer esse ódio que eles tanto combatem e não conseguem eliminar.

I have to say, I can completely see where you get that notion and are concerned with it. I am American, but I am not blinded by the self serving attitude that many of the people here have. I actually questioned our presence in Haiti. Why would the military have to be there to help with a natural disaster? That didn't seem right to me. But then I was informed of a treaty that was signed over 100 years ago. Evidently the United States is supposed to protect the islands in the Carribean Ocean. According to the treaty, my country is supposed to protect them from invasion of any other country (but does not give my country the right to invade or occupy said country/island) and if there is ever any natural disaster, we are to come to their aid. This helps my country by ensuring no other country that could be a threat could occupy an island so close, and it helps those island countries by having the aid if they ever need it. As the Haitians do now.
I admit, my country seems to like to stick its nose in other countries businesses. I cannot help that. But now we are there to help, and we have been giving lots of help, and I hope that all the other countries can continue to help just as much. It is wonderful to see the world coming together to help this little island where so much devastation is felt.
I had no idea about this treaty that you spoke. I see no need for military aid from the United States since Brazil was doing it with permission of the UN. No country would invade Haiti with the whole world looking. It seems an exaggeration.
